Your race directors have been watching the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic closely and have sought the advice of many stakeholders of the event as to how to react. In that regard, we have made a decision to cancel the Banff-Jasper Relay for 2020. The event will not be re- scheduled to later in the year, and all teams will receive a full refund of their 2020 entry fees.
The Banff-Jasper relay has had a successful 15-year run. It was resurrected in 2005 following the end of the classic Jasper-Banff relay which ran from 1980 to 2000. The event was resurrected in honor of our friend and fellow runner Garth Huck, who sadly passed away of a brain tumour in 2004. Over our 15 years we have raised over $500,000 for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada thanks to the donations of you and your teams. In that regard, we respectfully ask that teams consider donating a portion of their refund to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
Will we be back? We hope so!!
The race directors will be meeting early in 2021 to evaluate the possibility of resurrecting the event on June 5, 2021. In the meantime, please continue to practice social distancing, wash your hands and keep on running. We will miss seeing all your smiling faces on the most beautiful relay course in the world.

The Banff Jasper Relay is a 260 km long relay run in 15 stages on highways from Banff to Jasper on the most beautiful highways in the world - scenic Highway 1A (Bow Valley Parkway) and Highway 93 (Icefields Parkway).
The race is run on the shoulder of the highways facing traffic. It consists of two phases run simultaneously. Phase 1 has six stages from Lake Louise to Saskatchewan River Crossing and Phase 2 has nine stages from Norman Creek to Jasper.
We run all day Saturday and have a great post-race dinner party in Jasper after the race.
